Camping in a tent and camping in an Rv can be very different experiences. Depending on the camper, either choice could be enjoyable. Tent camping is generally more exposed to the elements. While warm weather camping is fun, tents don’t provide much protection against the cold, fierce winds or extreme heat. While choosing a destination, tent camping is much cheaper at both public and private parks.

There are a few sanitary concerns while camping in a tent. Unless camping at a campground, a temporary bathroom would need to be dug. Showers also are out of the question outside of camping areas. If bringing perishables, a cooler must be restocked with ice fairly often to keep the food fresh. All potable water must be brought to the site, which could prove difficult depending on the length of the trip and how far away the nearest clean water source is. While a camper could carry the necessary equipment with them, it can be crowded inside the tent. Cooking options are also limited, either using a campfire or a more versatile portable stove. However, when camping in a tent, there are innumerable views to be explored.

When camping in an RV, there is a definite limit to where a person can camp. It can be difficult to find a good spot unless camping in a campground, where RV camping sites cost much more than tent camping sites. However, camping in an RV is more comfortable than camping in a tent. There are bathrooms inside with a shower and toilet. Bedrooms complete with beds that range in size up to king sized make Rv camping seem much more appealing than a tent with a sleeping bag. Some RVs even come with heating and cooling.

Most of these amenities run off of electricity and propane. A camper would have to park at a designated RV site in order to use these features. Diesel for driving the RV also adds to the cost of owning an Rv. There are large tanks that hold potable water, though, along with a water heater for hot showers or small laundry machines. An RV has all the comforts of home in a smaller, more portable package. However, cost can be a huge factor when deciding which is more preferable.
